Frequently asked questions

Q1. Do you offer pay-per-lesson private lesson?
Yes, we offer 30, 45 & 60 minutes lessons.
For ages 3 – 5 years old we suggest a minimum 30 minutes lesson. If the child is younger than three years old, the private music instructions can be provided with any length from 10 to 25 minute with a charge of $1 per minute. For 6-15 years old we strongly recommend a min 45 minute lesson plan. Adults students must have 45 or 60 minute lesson.

Q2. What is the best age to start music class?
The Earlier the better! Research says that singing to and dancing with your baby enriches emotional and social development!

Our music class teaches them basic rhythms and musical concepts. Rhythm of Learning also provides a warm, fun environment that allows your child to bond with other kids. Have your child express themselves through movement, drumming, and or strumming.

Q3. What is the best age to start guitar?
Around 6. For younger ages, we suggest introducing a more accessible instrument like the ukulele, then transitioning them to guitar. Once you’re ready to play guitar, rock out and learn under the guidance of our warm and experienced guitarists Andrew Singer and or Eric Drazner.

Q4. What is the best age to begin piano lessons?
The best time to start piano lessons will be different for every child, but most will be ready between five-and-a-half to eight years old. Studies show, 6-year-olds who received piano / keyboard instructions had MORE brain growth and BETTER FINE MOTOR SKILLS than their peers.

We recommend ages 5 and up. But again, there is NO SPECIFIC AGE that is perfect to start piano. We had a tremendous success with some 3 years old (who had a perfect pencil grip and great attention span). Other children start later in their teens might not be ready to become a college student in a PIANO major, but they can still get many benefits from it. There is lots of joy to learn how to play the piano at retirement times. You have all the time in the world to practice.

Q5. Does size of hand matter in piano learning success?
If your child can easily place five fingers on five adjacent white keys–they are ready! For some children it is a big stretch. You want to be comfortable using a keyboard.

Q6. What is the best age to start woodwinds?
Six to seven years old is the best. Many kids do start a little later in middle school. We believe in giving them a head start and a solid musical foundation by getting them started before most of their peers.

Q7. Am I too old to learn to play the new instrument?
No matter when you start, you can have the enjoyment of playing an instrument, plus all the great mental, physical, and emotional benefits. People can start piano, guitar etc. at 60, 70, at 80, even later. Your brain can still form new connections at any age. You can always learn new skills, with a little more patience.
